Syrische, Palestijnse en Jordaanse jongeren staan in groepen bij elkaar voor de voetbalwedstrijd

Young Syrian and Palestinian refugees and Jordanian youth gather in groups before the start of a football game organised by Oxfam and the Baqa’a youth club in the Baqa’a refugee camp in Amman, Jordan. Despite difficult times, the children of this community came together to enjoy five-day football tournament. For some children, the games are a break from the harsh realities of conflict.

Since the conflict in Syria began in March 2011, over a hundred thousand people have been killed with millions fleeing their country and others in desperate need of humanitarian assistance. Neighbouring Jordan is hosting nearly 600,000 registered Syrians and nearly 14,000 Palestinian refugees from Syria.

Oxfam provides humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict in Syria, as well as community activities such as the football league in an effort to foster positive relationships between communities, fighting exclusion and marginalization, while promoting trust and friendship.
